About

I believe that great design is the result of pushing for fairness at every level. Systems design is my bread and butter.

I’m a freelance design and product lead with 10+ years of experience in human-centred product development and innovation - across content design, cognitive science, policy, service design, system design and product management.

Previous to this, I led global product content design at Meta for our growing Customer Support org. I was the first local content design hire to the London office back in 2016.

From 2017 to early 2021, I was a design leader in integrity, trust and safety — focused on policies and product experiences relating to content moderation across Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. My work covered some of the biggest issues across the internet and society, and directly led to behavioural change (global reductions in hate speech), million-dollar savings, improvements in perception of fairness and new global industry standards.

Before Meta, I mostly worked in the public sector and for non-profits - and was a founding member of the content design team at the Government Digital Service, working on the award-winning GOV.UK website on product experiences covering benefits, immigration, tax and parole.

I’ve written extensively about content strategy and content design, and pioneered the concept of content design patterns back in 2016.

Before working in product, I was a journalist, events promoter and producer in the music industry. Before that, I graduated in Law from UCL.

I'm especially interested in the social and behavioural impact of design. I solve complex problems creatively, balancing user needs with business objectives and technological constraints.

I'm a leader in cross-functional settings, and have strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills. I’ve built functions and teams from the ground up, and managed a team of 40+ - though right now I prefer to 'do' the work rather than support. I've launched 0-1 products and services, worked on a mix of product and platform teams, and taken work to huge scale for large audiences (3 billion people, 100+ languages).
